We received hundreds of messages, mainly private, following the involuntary “suspension” of the Keghart.com website. We thank all well-wishers. Almost all the writers urged the resumption of publication the earliest possible. In response the Keghart Editorial Board drafted a letter of principles that would act as a framework for the succeeding publisher.
With great pleasure I would like to inform you that the succeeding publisher is Dr. Minas Kojayan of California. He will perform pro bono the dual duties of publisher and editor of Armenian texts. Dr. Kojayan is a PhD in Philology from the Yerevan State University (1981) and has taught Armenology at the AGBU Melkonian Educational Institute (Cyprus) and Manoogian-Demirdjian School (Canoga Park).
Dr. Kojayan brings vast experience in Armenian affairs and in journalism, having served as a member of the editorial boards of “Yeridasart Hay” (Young Armenian, Beirut), AIM (Armenian International Magazine, Los Angeles) and “Nor Or” (New Day, Altadena). He has prepared Armenian history textbooks (five volumes) and anthologies of Armenian literature for students (four volumes). Dr. Kojayan's articles have appeared in various media outlets in Armenia and in the Diaspora. In 2009 he wrote “Chork-Marzban (Dort-Yol)", on the 100th anniversary of a historic armed resistance of that Cilician town. His «Մորմոքող Անցեալի Արահետներով» ("Along the Roads of Grieving Past") will be published soon.
Jirair Tutunjian will continue as editor of the English articles. The quality of Keghart editorials and the overall content of articles markedly improved through his association over the past three years. Vako Nicolian, whose knowledge and expertise were instrumental in starting Keghart.com, will continue as technical manager. Nayiri Abrahamian will also continue as secretary of the board. I shall be a member of the board without portfolio.
The new board will be vigilant in continuing Keghart's non-partisan tradition of the free exchange of ideas, hoping that it would lead to solutions to multiple problems that we, as Armenians, face in the motherland and in the Diaspora.
Welcome back to Keghart.
Dikran Abrahamian MD
